Days of the People of Goodwill at Velehrad are surely the biggest celebrations connected with a national holiday of the Czech Republic. They have been taking place for 16 years already, on the occasion of the Day of the Slavonic Missionaries Saints Cyril and Methodius.

‘The Way of the Two Brothers’ is the title of an art competition for children 3 to 11 years of age. It is regularly announced within the July Days of the People of Goodwill at Velehrad. The aim of the project is to explain roots of our culture to children, impairing a positive model for life in the present.
It is an important spiritual center, a destination of frequent ecclesiastic pilgrimages, gatherings and Cyrillo-Methodian celebrations.

Velehrad - The new Pope Francis could visit the Zlín Region in July. At that time, 1150 years will have passed since the arrival of the Byzantine missionaries, Cyril and Methodius, to Great Moravia. The Holy Father has already received a number of invitations.

From the diocesan meeting of young people with Bishop Vojtěch Cikrle, which took place during the weekend (23rd March 2013) in the South Moravian metropolis, more than fourteen hundreds of young people took home not only a number of experiences but also an imitation of a cross from the 9th century, from the period of the mission of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The Bishop of Brno, Vojtěch Cikrle, has a unique pectoral. From the historical viewpoint, it is unique also in its art processing. It is a copy of a Great Moravian cross made of silver, which was found during excavations in Mikulčice near Hodonín.
