Days of the People of Goodwill at Velehrad are surely the biggest celebrations connected with a national holiday of the Czech Republic. They have been taking place for 16 years already, on the occasion of the Day of the Slavonic Missionaries Saints Cyril and Methodius.

CYRIL AND METHODIUS IN FILM
The five-part docudrama will map the lives and work of the Slavonic missionaries Cyril and Methodius, primarily in an educational format.

SCHOOL OF CYRIL AND METHODIUS
On the occasion of the “Cyrillo-Methodian jubilee”, educational workshops for children and youth will emerge, the main aim of which will be to familiarize children with the Cyrillo-Methodian legacy in an amusing and practical way.
CHILDREN WALK THE WAY OF THE TWO BROTHERS
‘The Way of the Two Brothers’ is the title of an art competition for children 3 to 11 years of age. It is regularly announced within the July Days of the People of Goodwill at Velehrad. The aim of the project is to explain roots of our culture to children, impairing a positive model for life in the present.

May Events Organized within the Festival of Spirit and Script - Bulgaria in Moravia in Vsetín will Culminate in a Social Evening titled "Word and Song"

On the occasion of one of the most significant Bulgarian feasts, the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius (Bulgarian national holiday falls on 24th May), the House of Culture in Vsetín and employees of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Prague have prepared a social evening. The program called "Word nad Song" will introduce all forms of contemporary Bulgaria as well as the importance of the missionaries, Cyril and Methodius, for both our countries. The event is part of the Festival of Spirit and Script - Bulgaria in Moravia 2013, which takes place under the auspices of a councilor of the Zlín Region, Mgr. Taťána Nersesjan.

Czech Radio: Itinerant Exhibition Sacred Legacy with a Subtitle Saints Cyril and Methodius in Slovak Fine Art

Originals of works created by Slovak artists, painters and sculptors are presented at an exhibition titled "Sacred Legacy" with a subtitle "Saints Cyril and Methodius in Slovak Fine Art", which has been traveling cities of our eastern neighbors since the end of last year.

Bulgarian Present and History in Film

Within the Festival of Spirit and Script "Bulgaria in Moravia", which is organized by the House of Culture in Vsetín on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of Cyril and Methodius, two projections of Bulgarian movies will take place. On Thursday at 9 p.m., a comedy from the present called "Stranger" will be shown in the open-air cinema at the Lower Square, and on Monday 27th May at 4:30 p.m. a historical movie Boris I will be projected in the Vatra cinema.

INVITATION to Bolschoi Don Kosaken Concert

Within the festival called Bulgaria in Moravia – The Festival of Spirit and Script, the House of Culture in Vsetín has prepared a concert of the world famous male choir BOLSCHOI DON KOSAKEN from Vienna. On Tuesday 28th May 2013 at 7 p.m., in the church of the Lower Congregation of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in Vsetín, they will perform Orthodox spiritual chorales from the Ukraine, Russia and Bulgaria.

1150th anniversary of Cyril and Methodius

Here are our roots.

They wanted to become part of those nations and to share their destiny in everything. Here, in this place, at Velehrad, in Moravia, we can feel the historical legacy of the kingdom in a peculiar way – we can feel even those who became its keepers and guardians.

For us, people of the present age, their apostolate contains even the elocution of the ecumenical appeal, i.e. to build unity again, in a peaceful reconciliation, which later after their deaths was heavily damaged, and in the first place the unity between the East and the West.

Their work is also a very important contribution to the growth of the common Christian roots of Europe, which by their firmness and viability create one of the main contact points, which must be respected by every serious attempt at reunification of our continent in a new and topical way.

The story of both brothers, Cyril and Methodius, is a distinct example of unity.

Saints Cyril and Methodius contributed, to a great extent, to the building of Europe, not only regarding its Christian religious community but also concerning its civil and cultural unity.
