DAYS OF THE PEOPLE OF GOODWILL 2019
Days of the People of Goodwill at Velehrad are surely the biggest celebrations connected with a national holiday of the Czech Republic. They have been taking place for 16 years already, on the occasion of the Day of the Slavonic Missionaries Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The five-part docudrama will map the lives and work of the Slavonic missionaries Cyril and Methodius, primarily in an educational format.

SCHOOL OF CYRIL AND METHODIUS
On the occasion of the “Cyrillo-Methodian jubilee”, educational workshops for children and youth will emerge, the main aim of which will be to familiarize children with the Cyrillo-Methodian legacy in an amusing and practical way.
CHILDREN WALK THE WAY OF THE TWO BROTHERS
‘The Way of the Two Brothers’ is the title of an art competition for children 3 to 11 years of age. It is regularly announced within the July Days of the People of Goodwill at Velehrad. The aim of the project is to explain roots of our culture to children, impairing a positive model for life in the present.

Modrá became alive with film, have a look

On Sunday 24th February, the main shooting of the historical movie project titled "Cyril and Methodius - Apostles to the Slavs" began at Modra close to Velehrad. It emerges on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of the missionaries to Great Moravia. Have a look at the photographs from the venue.

Proglas Radio Broadcasts Cyrillo-Methodian Series

The radio program called Barvínek is intended for both children and adults who are interested in events happening around them. This year, when we commemorate the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Great Moravia, creators of the program prepared a thematic series titled Incredible Stories of Constantine and Methodius.

Slovaks Organized a Cyrillo-Methodian Congress at Universities in Rome

Saints Cyril and Methodius among Slavic Nations: 1150 years since the beginning of the mission – under this title a two day long congress takes place at the Roman Pontifical Gregorian University and the Eastern Institute.

A Great Moravian Monument with a Statue of the Missionaries to Emerge in Strachotín

Strachotín (Břeclav region) - This year, Strachotín in the Břeclav region wants to build a monument of Moravian spiritual patrons and missionaries Saints Cyril and Methodius. The sandstone statue will be 2.3 meters tall. It will have a form of two figures, between which there will be an opening in a shape of a cross with two limbs. Around the monument, there will be stones that will be brought from the most significant localities of Great Moravia, said Lucie Danihelová, the vice-mayor of the village, to the Czech News Agency today.

Cardinal Duka will make an appearance at the Cyrillo-Methodian conference

On 25th and 26th February 2013, Cardinal Dominik Duka OP will take part in an international congress titled "Saints Cyril and Methodius among the Slavic Nations: 1150 Years since the Beginning of their Mission", which takes place at the Pontifical Gregorian University (The Pontifical Eastern Institute).

Debate in Boskovice

The lecture hall of the Museum of Boskovice Region came alive on Tuesday evening of 19th February with an interesting lecture. Boskovice based Orel and the Museum of Boskovice Region chose the theme of "Pilgrimaging in the Czech Lands". Mgr. Jiří Mihola, Ph.D. from the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno delivered his expert presentation there.

PILGRIMAGE AT SÁZAVA 2013

On the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of the missionaries, Saints Cyril and Methodius, to Great Moravia a traditional pilgrimage at Sázava will take place in the exteriors of the Sázava Monastery on 22nd June 2013.

iDNES: Moravian Slovakia is Pleased - The Spectacular Celebration at Velehrad is Filling the Hotels Already

The whole region of Moravian Slovakia is getting ready for the anniversary of the arrival of the missionaries, Cyril and Methodius. The restored organ is going to be moved back to the basilica at Velehrad. New traffic signs are being prepared and also a computer game about the brothers from Solun will be finished.

1150th anniversary of Cyril and Methodius

Here are our roots.

They wanted to become part of those nations and to share their destiny in everything. Here, in this place, at Velehrad, in Moravia, we can feel the historical legacy of the kingdom in a peculiar way – we can feel even those who became its keepers and guardians.

For us, people of the present age, their apostolate contains even the elocution of the ecumenical appeal, i.e. to build unity again, in a peaceful reconciliation, which later after their deaths was heavily damaged, and in the first place the unity between the East and the West.

Their work is also a very important contribution to the growth of the common Christian roots of Europe, which by their firmness and viability create one of the main contact points, which must be respected by every serious attempt at reunification of our continent in a new and topical way.

The story of both brothers, Cyril and Methodius, is a distinct example of unity.

Saints Cyril and Methodius contributed, to a great extent, to the building of Europe, not only regarding its Christian religious community but also concerning its civil and cultural unity.
