In the spirit of these words, the Cyrillo-Methodian year is commemorated also by an association called Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde (SAG) with its affiliated organization Ackermann-Gemeinde (AG) in Germany. It was Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde that launched this year full of celebrations with a Czech-German conference titled "Beginnings of Evangelization: Dialogue of Spirituality and Society at that Time and Nowadays", which was devoted to the legacy of the missionaries and to our Christian European future. In this spirit SAG and AG have also involved in this year's celebrations at Velehrad where we want to present not only our activities for peaceful coexistence in the united Europe.
Within the program of the Days of the People of Goodwill, we have prepared a discussion for the public in the Pilgrims' and Exercise House Stojanov (2nd floor) at Velehrad on 4th July from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will take place in the spirit of the patrons of Europe and the theme is "Building Bridges with Christ: Czechs and Germans - Neighbors". Mons. Anton Otte, Provost of the Royal Collegiate Chapter at Vyšehrad, and Dr. Walter Rzepka, honorary chairman of Ackermann-Gemeinde have accepted our invitation. In discussions we want to deal not only with the legacy of the saint brothers, Cyril and Methodius, for our Europe but we will also talk about our mutual relations as neighbors, about the roles of Christian organizations for the deepening of these relations. German bishops and the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) will give us a good example in the form of an invitation to Catholic Days 2014, which will take place from 28th May to 1st June 2014 in Bavarian Regensburg.

Here are our roots.
(Blessed John Paul II, 22nd April 1990, Velehrad)
They wanted to become part of those nations and to share their destiny in everything. Here, in this place, at Velehrad, in Moravia, we can feel the historical legacy of the kingdom in a peculiar way – we can feel even those who became its keepers and guardians.
(Blessed John Paul II)
For us, people of the present age, their apostolate contains even the elocution of the ecumenical appeal, i.e. to build unity again, in a peaceful reconciliation, which later after their deaths was heavily damaged, and in the first place the unity between the East and the West.
(Blessed John Paul II)
Their work is also a very important contribution to the growth of the common Christian roots of Europe, which by their firmness and viability create one of the main contact points, which must be respected by every serious attempt at reunification of our continent in a new and topical way.
(Blessed John Paul II)
The story of both brothers, Cyril and Methodius, is a distinct example of unity.
Saints Cyril and Methodius contributed, to a great extent, to the building of Europe, not only regarding its Christian religious community but also concerning its civil and cultural unity.
(Blessed John Paul II)
