In the anniversary year there is a unique opportunity to see the palace chapel of Saint Sebastian which - despite its small size - expresses the spiritual and pastoral role of bishops as administrators of the Moravian Church and the continuity of this mission which goes back all the way to Saints Cyril and Methodius.
The broadest public has a chance of seeing the palace chapel in the following days: 24th May within the Night of Churches, 25th – 26th May within the Days of Slavic Culture in Kroměříž, 5th July on the occasion of the Day of the Slavic Missionaries - Cyril and Methodius, 31st August as part of the program of the Castle-Palace Night, 7th – 8th and 14th – 15th September within the Days of European Cultural Heritage and on the feast of Saint Wenceslas 28th September.
Employees of the National Institute of Monuments prepared an educational program called "Secrets of the Palace Chapel" for pupils of higher years of elementary schools. Students of the Archbishop's Grammar School in Kroměříž were the first ones to participate in this program on 3rd April 2013. Pupils began their adventurous uncovering of the secrets of the private chapel of the bishops of Olomouc. Thematically, the program focuses on discovering the link betweeen the Archbishopric of Olomouc and the oldest history of our country in relation to the Slavic apostles, Saints Cyril and Methodius. The palace offers this program to other educational institutions within the Days of Slavic Culture from 22nd May to 26 May 2013.

Here are our roots.
(Blessed John Paul II, 22nd April 1990, Velehrad)
They wanted to become part of those nations and to share their destiny in everything. Here, in this place, at Velehrad, in Moravia, we can feel the historical legacy of the kingdom in a peculiar way – we can feel even those who became its keepers and guardians.
(Blessed John Paul II)
For us, people of the present age, their apostolate contains even the elocution of the ecumenical appeal, i.e. to build unity again, in a peaceful reconciliation, which later after their deaths was heavily damaged, and in the first place the unity between the East and the West.
(Blessed John Paul II)
Their work is also a very important contribution to the growth of the common Christian roots of Europe, which by their firmness and viability create one of the main contact points, which must be respected by every serious attempt at reunification of our continent in a new and topical way.
(Blessed John Paul II)
The story of both brothers, Cyril and Methodius, is a distinct example of unity.
Saints Cyril and Methodius contributed, to a great extent, to the building of Europe, not only regarding its Christian religious community but also concerning its civil and cultural unity.
(Blessed John Paul II)
