In 2013, 1150 years will have passed since this important event. This event wants to contribute, to a large extent, to the celebrations of this significant event that are being prepared. In 2013, two biggest social events related to this anniversary will take place at Velehrad (5th July) and Mikulčice (24th - 26th May) and both these events will have, above all, an important religious character. In Kroměříž, this event will have primarily a CULTURAL dimension and its most important strategic aim is to begin a cultural dialogue and to search for the roots of culture, script and erudition of Slavic countries – Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, the Ukraine, Russia, Poland, FYROM, Croatia, Slovenia, Belarusia.... This orientation naturally comes from the historical and social standing of the City of Kroměříž – thus, a city of culture and erudition – Athens of the Haná Region. Another important reason for the launching of the new tradition is the connection with the Cyrillo-Methodian tradition through a direct reference to an important personality from the Kroměříž region, Matěj Pavlík (GORAZD II), a significant part of whose life and activities were connected with the city of Kroměříž and the Cyrillo-Methodian tradition and legacy (the first Czech mass took place in Kroměříž in 1920, he was the founder of the Orthodox Church in the Czech Republic, he wrote the lives of Cyril and Methodius… ). The event will take place for the first time this year but we want to repeat it every year.
